Come
visit our original Pine-Oak forest and observe the rich flora
and fauna of "Corazón del Bosque" |

Flora: |
|
|
|
The
predominant tree species of our forest consist of conifers
and oaks. The species of our forest´s flora interact
to form speacialized ecological niches. For this very reason
many species of our fauna are endemic. The climatic conditions
along with ample foliage create habitats for the animals that
is truly one of a kind. You are sure to gain a curiosity to
familiarize yourself with the ecosystem of "Corazón
del Bosque."
Apart from this, we offer the observation of wild mushrooms
during the Guatemalan rainy season. The wild mushrooms are
also prepared upon availabilty in the restaurant as a traditional
Mayan dish. |

|
|
|
With
our forest being completely natural, it acts as the habitat
for more than 70 species of birds (about 15 being endemics
of Guatemala), reptiles, insects and mammals. You will find
that the most visible species are the endemic, migratory and
residential birds which are well known locally. There are
also various bird species in danger of extinction such as
the Xara, Chocoyo, Tecolote, Bearded-Screached Owl and Trogon
species. We offer local guides to educate the tourist about
the birds and their ecosystems for a small cost.
We also offer the tourist
an opportunity to appreciate the large quantities of insects,
arachnids, diplopods and chilopods that interact with the
floura and fauna to form an important ecosystem of the Guatemalan
Western Highlands.
